National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) is urging the public to take advantage of the free medication provided by the government in health centers to prevent kidney failure.
The free medication is part of the Department of Health’s Hypertension and Diabetes Club, which was rolled out in January 2016.
Individuals who sign up for the club will receive free maintenance medicine after consulting with a physician.
Besides this, the Department of Health (DOH) has been giving away free maintenance for hypertension and diabetic patients since January.
A patient needs to undergo assessment first in the nearest health centers to be part of the club.
Barangay health workers will then conduct the diagnosis in the RHUs before a patient can be enrolled.
